AP exams were largely disastrous, to say the least. Thousands of kids across the country had technical difficulties and were not able. to submit their exams, and Millburn students were no exception. Now students must take make-up exams, and we know how stressful that can be. Fear not! The Pasquinade is here to provide all the advice you need to succeed.
1. Don’t start studying until the day before the exam.
This is a classic mistake. Overstudying for AP exams has been condemned by nine out of ten school psychologists. Instead, professionals recommend that students prepare through real-world experience. For example, an AP Biology student can spend time reading near plants or playing with pets, and AP government students can watch the news. Time and time again, students have reported that this is their favorite method of preparation.
2. Don't use 'study guides.'
Make sure to read through your entire textbook the day before the exam; that way, you’ll know everything there is to know on the test.
3. Pull an all-nighter the evening before the exam.
Make sure that you get as little sleep as possible before the exam day. Doctors and psychologists have shown that sleep is linked to memory loss; therefore, the only way to ensure that you won’t forget anything is to stay up as long as possible.
4. Don’t eat anything on the day of the exam.
Many students feel test anxiety before they must take the AP exams, and an upset stomach from food is the last thing they need. Needing to go to the bathroom will also make you feel uncomfortable and may lower your score in the end. Make sure that you fast for the entire day leading up to the AP exam to avoid these common pitfalls.
5. Do NOT charge your battery before the exam.
This is a new technique developed by the strategists and tech geniuses at The Pasquinade. If you feel like you aren’t prepared or you’re stumped by a particular question, there’s always a way out: running out of battery. First, turn the brightness all the way up on your device. Next, open every application you have. Finally, connect your airpods. The goal is to drain your device’s battery as quickly and completely as possible. Once it dies, join the class action lawsuit against Collegeboard because of the fact that there is makeup for a makeup exam.
Foolproof!
Follow these simple steps, and you’re sure to get a 5. College credit or not, it’s time we Millburn students proved we’re smarter than everyone else in the country!
